Following a temporary site-wide closure due to COVID-19 we are pleased to announce Mitchelton will commence a staged reopening this week. We continue to actively monitor the latest information and operating guidelines whilst taking active steps to ensure our guests and staff stay safe.
All Victorian hospitality venues are regulated and governed by the Victorian Food Act 1984. A major part of this Act is personal hygiene standards which Mitchelton practise and apply in our day to day roles. In addition to this, Mitchelton has increased our vigilance around housekeeping standards and all front of house services. This includes:
Increased cleaning: our team follows a rigorous sanitising and disinfecting plan, focusing on all shared surfaces including counters, tables, door handles, desks, chairs, telephones and bathrooms, which all staff have been trained and instructed to follow.
Hotel room keys will be disinfected before and after use by each guest. Daily room service during hotel stays will be on request basis only.
Reduction or removal of shared touchpoints: The removal of communal and self-service equipment, laminated menus that are cleaned between each use, encouraging contactless payments from our guests, encouraging online and phone bookings to minimise contact.
Physical distancing: Encourage physical distancing throughout the venue, encouraging guests to maintain safe distance of 1.5metres, providing physical barriers and floor markings; and limiting dine-in service to table service only. The location of tables in The Muse Restaurant and other dining spaces has been carefully considered to ensure it aligns with social distancing guidelines, minimising person to person contact.
Monitoring Guest Numbers: Mitchelton will carefully monitor guest numbers in each of our dining spaces, the Cellar Door and and the Gallery of Aboriginal Art to ensure we remain within the latest guidelines. To help us adhere to these strict guidelines, bookings are essential for all meal sittings in our restaurant The Muse, including breakfast. Bookings can be made online or by calling the restaurant on 03 5736 2225. Bookings for wine tastings in our cellar door are also highly recommended, please call 03 5736 2221 to secure your place.
Capturing contact information:
Government guidelines state that venues must request each person who attends to provide their first name and a contact phone number to allow for contact tracing.
Venues must keep a secure record of those details, the date and time at which the person attended the facility, and the dining area/room and table number at which they were seated. Records will be securely stored and safely destroyed after 28 days.
Mitchelton is committed to transparency and will ensure any potential cases of contamination are communicated with the correct authorities as required. Furthermore, we have implemented a strict 2-week self-quarantine for team members showing any symptoms of the virus with a certified medical clearance required prior to returning to work.
Our Guests: We ask all guests to please wash your hands frequently with either an alcohol-based hand sanitiser or soap. If you have symptoms of a fever, cough or cold please contact the health direct hotline on 1800 022 222 and quarantine yourself until further instruction is given from the hotline or until you are given certified medical clearance. Updates to Policies
We have made the considered decision to temporarily waive postponement fees. We understand this matter is out of all parties control and we do not believe in penalising anyone for short term financial gains. If guests are feeling unwell they will also be able to cancel a reservation up to the day of arrival, without any financial penalty.
Mitchelton believes in social responsibility and our hope is that in most instances we will experience postponements as opposed to cancellations. As a result, we will support our valued corporate and private guests to ensure we continue to build strong and trusting relationships across the Mitchelton property.
As we all ride through these challenging times; we ask you to continue to support the local hospitality and tourism industry by making informed decisions. We ask you to also consider supporting us here at Mitchelton through visitation to our beautiful estate or by shopping our range of regional wines online HERE.
Thank you for your support and understanding,
The Mitchelton Management Team
