CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF FIRST VINE PLANTINGS

CELEBRATE WITH US

This August marks 50 years since the first vine plantings at the Mitchelton Estate.

Mitchelton’s founding businessman, Ross Shelmerdine and inaugural winemaker Colin Preece chose an old grazing property, prized for its climate, soil and proximity to the waterways. The location, situated on the banks of the Goulburn River, was chosen for being beautiful and capable of producing outstanding wine. Today, the Nagambie Estate boasts 108 vineyard hectares of Riesling, Chardonnay, Marsanne, Shiraz, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon amongst a few other varietals.

Fire up, it’s Dad’s big day. Our Executive Chef, and father of four, Dan Hawkins is stoking the coals to celebrate with wood-fired pork and all the trimmings this Father’s Day. Enjoy mixed cuts of succulent wood-fired pork accompanied by housemade bread, zesty slaw, roast veggies, sherry grain salad, lashings of seeded mustard apple sauce and old fashioned gravy. A glass of Preece Heathcote Shiraz is the perfect accompaniment.

UPCOMING WINEMAKERS LUNCH

La Vuelta

Hola! La Vuelta, the final Grand Tour of the 2019 cycling season kicks off in Spain next week. In celebration of Mitchelton-Scott’s involvement, The Muse Winemaker’s Lunch is transforming into a Spanish feast. Using seasonal local produce, Dan Hawkins brings diners a herb and spice rich menu championing the classic flavours of Spain. Changing weekly, menu highlights include seafood paella, BBQ octopus with fresh herbs and squid ink sauce and barramundi with roasted peppers. Paired with a glass of Estate wine, enjoy a taste of European summer at Mitchelton. Delicioso!

EVERY TUESDAY NIGHT IN THE MUSE

Each Tuesday night Mitchelton transports you to Tuscany, where fresh pasta and matching varietal wines reign supreme. Executive Chef Dan Hawkins, and resident Romeo, Marco Faraone create an evolving list of fresh pasta specials based on the seasonal spoils from the Mitchelton garden and local producers.
