Since its establishment in 1969, Mitchelton is focused on crafting wines that have distinct character, allure and speak clearly of its origin. Our goal is to provide a precise translation, while capturing the essence in every bottle. This wine forms part of the Mitchelton ‘Heathcote Luxury’ program. This program has allowed us to explore the subtle nuances of our individual Shiraz blocks at our Toolleen vineyard, and gain a deeper understanding of each block’s unique and expressive personality. 

Tasting Notes

COLOUR: Deep Magenta with purple hues.

NOSE: Lifted floral and pepper spice notes along with fresh aromas of red and black fruits.

PALATE: The wine displays an edgy palate tension revealing multiple layers of blackberry, blood plum, Asian five spice and complex minerality. Plush, powdery fruit tannins dance along the length of the palate and complement the focused, intense fruit with a unique nervous energy.

VINEYARD: Premium fruit parcels for this limited release Shiraz were carefully selected and handpicked from the Spring block within our Toolleen vineyard in Heathcote. The Spring block was planted on own roots in 2003 on a section of Tatiarra clay loam with its significant lime and greenstone basalt influence resulting in a wine that introduces its trademark pure fruit aromatics.
