2020 The Bend Chardonnay

WINE PROFILE

Water doesn’t flow naturally in a straight line, it meanders and sways following the topography of the land. Mitchelton resides in one such curve, a place affectionately dubbed, The Bend. An idyllic spot where people congregate to eat, drink and play. Where rushing is a foreign concept, and the day takes you where it will.

Whether on our ground or your own, there’s a time and place for The Bend.

Tasting Note: Medium straw in colour. The fruit aromatics of white peach and grapefruit aromas emerge from the glass with an underlying hint of sweet spice and assorted tropical fruit. The palate has depth and volume with biscuit and nougat characters working together with fresh citrus, mango and peach flavours. A refreshing, bright acidity gives this wine length along with intense flavours that linger and evolve before resolving with a clean finish.

Vintage: A dry, cold Winter led into a cool, wet Spring, followed by a dry and hot December and January. On the eve of harvest we were blessed with a mild February and March, punctuated by a few significant rain events. This all led to significantly reduced yields across all varieties. The small crop was consistent and even with good flavour development.
