Print Shiraz represents the pinnacle of Mitchelton winemaking. Since its inception in 1982, Print Shiraz employs the most impeccable parcels of wine crafted from each vintage in a blend that is carefully assembled to demonstrate a showcase of restrained power, complexity and unquestionable pedigree.
Timely rainfall at budburst ensured vines had a healthy start to the growing season following yet another dry winter period. January and February mean temperatures were slightly above average with rainfall close to median values. The warm summer conditions, moderate crop levels and healthy canopies lead to harvest commencing three weeks ahead of long term norms.
Fastidious attention to crop levels ensures that only the most impeccable fruit is harvested for Print Shiraz. Once picked, the fruit is separated into small parcels for fermentation in open format fermenters. Each ferment is carefully monitored throughout to ensure that extraction of the finest tannin and preservation of fruit profiles are harmoniously achieved. Individual batches typically spend between 14-20 days on skins. Immediately following pressing the wine is transferred to a selection of tight grained French oak barrels to complete malolactic fermentation
and mature for a further 18 months. Careful selection of the best barrels at blending ensure that Print Shiraz is a wine that will continue to reward over time.
